Gerald Latimer tragically loses his father and then loses his job to a robot. To end this losing streak and raise £23,000.70p to put his mother into care he resorts to making drugs. This fails when a greenhouse explodes. He then robs a bank with an amateurish plan that also fails. Gerald tries burglary, resulting in the theft of a priceless item that no fence would ever consider handling. The underworld learns about this and he goes on the run with a cocaine-addled friend and an attractive bank teller. A cat and mouse chase involving priests, thugs and police culminates in an explosive ending.
